Reactivity Profile    Acid solutions of Folic acid are sensitive to heat, but towards neutrality, stability progressively increases. Solutions are inactivated by ultraviolet light and alkaline solutions are sensitive to oxidation. Folic acid is also inactivated by light. Folic acid is incompatible with oxidizing agents, reducing agents and heavy metal ions.
Soluble vitamin folic acid is an important water-soluble vitamin B, which was isolated from spinach in 1941. It is named after its rich content in green leaves, also known as glutamic acid. In nature, there are several forms in which the parent compound is made up of 3 components, namely, pyridine, amino benzoic acid, and glutamic acid. Folic acid contains 1 or more glutamyl, and naturally occurring folic acid is mostly glutamic acid form. The biologically active form of folic acid is leucovorin. In 1981, the Nomenclature Committee of the American Dietetic Association (CNAIN) referred to folic acid and compounds related to the biological activity of folic acid as fo-lacin. Biological activity is usually expressed in units of weight.
Folic acid is a dark yellow substance which is not easily dissolved in water, and its solubility in sodium salt is larger. In a neutral and alkaline solution, the heat is stable and the temperature in the acidic solution exceeds 100 DEG C and is broken down. Folic acid and its sodium salts are destroyed by light in solution.
Folic acid isolated from liver and yeast mainly contains three glutamic acid or seven glutamic acid derivatives.
Most of the folic acid in the diet is glutamic acid compound, which can not be absorbed into the bloodstream completely. The experiments were carried out by using 14C labeled second glutamyl residues, which were broken down into glutamic acid in the absorption process, without radioactive folic acid in serum and 14C in exhaled air. The breakdown of multiple glutamate chains is carried out in intestinal mucosa cells. Folic acid is stored in small amounts in the liver. Folic acid has active absorption and diffusion in vivo, passive absorption of two ways, the absorption site is mainly in the upper part of the small intestine. The absorption rate of reducing folic acid is higher, and the more absorption rate of glutamine is, the lower glucose and vitamin C can promote absorption. The absorbed folic acid is deposited in the intestinal wall, liver, bone marrow and other tissues in the body. Under the participation of NADPH, the folic acid reductase is reduced to physiologically active THFA (or FH4), which is involved in the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines. Therefore, folic acid plays an important role in protein synthesis and cell division and growth, and contributes to the formation of normal red blood cells. Deficiency can lead to the decrease of hemoglobin production in erythrocytes and the obstruction of cell maturation, leading to megaloblastic anemia. Human intestinal bacteria can synthesize folic acid, so it is generally not easy to lack. When the absorption, metabolism or long-term use of antibacterial drugs can cause intestinal, lack of folic acid. In addition, folic acid is also widely exists in animal and vegetable foods, rich: eggs, fish and offal, pear, beans, beet, spinach, broccoli, celery, lettuce, citrus, nuts and legumes. The amount of daily intake of folic acid in the human body to maintain every 3.1 g/kg, the body can have the right amount of folic acid daily intake of pregnant women reserves; Ye Suanzong should be greater than 350 g; the baby safe intake according to kg weight similar to adults, the daily 3.6 g/kg can meet the needs for growth and maintenance of normal blood cells.
